I'm sure everyone knows about the DuckTales reboot by now but if not have a peek: [link] It actually doesn't look half bad, in fact I'm...looking forward to it. Maybe I'm just trying to be optimistic for a change? It's hard when it comes to beloved childhood memories because it's pretty impossible to top the originals. Sure the animation is different but I don't hate the new style either. If this new take on DuckTales is successful it raises the question...will Disney reboot more of their cartoon classics? Darkwing Duck? Rescue Rangers? TALESPIN? TaleSpin was (and still is) one of my absolute favorites. While it would be hard to imagine a reboot it'd also be nice to see the series revived and loved by old and new fans alike. Also the world needs more Don Karnage.
This also makes me wonder...what about other toons? I know Nickelodeon is planning a NickToons movie in addition to Hey Arnold and Invader Zim. Oh, and then the other day I stumbled on this little piece of news... www.nydailynews.com/entertainm… FABOO?? It could be wonderful...or not...but I guess all we can do is wait and see. What next? Tiny Toons? Anything is possible. Nostalgia sells, that much is obvious, and while it can be fun to revisit and re-imagine the classics (as long as it's done for the right reasons and given the same amount of care) it's nice to see new stuff too. This is especially true of the movies...does Disney really need to remake ALL their animated classics in live action/super-realistic CGI? Buuuut that's a rant for another day. XD

Upcoming Scar Comic Series
Hey kids! Haven't posted a journal in ages but believe you me, there is a damn good reason for it. Have a look here: https://screenrant.com/disney-villain-lion-king-scar-origin-story/ To say I am excited (and nervous) is a major understatement. I've been wanting a good backstory about Scar, or any deeper look at the character, for years. Honestly, fans have given us the best takes on this. But something official.. in an art style that is loyal to the original and not some lame photorealistic cgi movie.. has the potential to be amazing. Sure, they may also royally screw it up. BUT! This sounds pretty promising: "In the original film, Scar is presented as an archetypal with little time truly devoted to his motivations or inner psychology. By setting this new comic book series in between scenes of the original film, Brown and Fraley can explore what was running through Scar’s head and what made him make the decisions he did. A story is only as good as its villain, and a comic that
Update for my watchers....
Hey everyone. It's been a rough year so far, no? I want to apologize for not being on much. The truth is I haven't even touched my art in almost two months. I lost my dad on March 29th and his little dog Cinnamon joined him just last Friday. To say I'm feeling uninspired and depressed is an understatement. I've been trying to keep myself busy and focus on other things but thus far it's mostly been watching tv, playing video games and other such mind numbing activities. Hiking with my dogs, when the weather permits, has also been helpful. But my motivation for art has been seriously lacking. I want to get back to it, I KNOW my dad would want me to.... he was always so proud of my art. He even kept a book of my work. I might try re-reading some of my favorite fan fictions to spark inspiration but I'm really struggling with intrusive thoughts, regret and guilt right now. My obsessive compulsive disorder/anxiety/ptsd isn't helping. But anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know where
Eclipse...
Please be reading this in Don Karnage's voice, but... *ahem* "What is going on?! WHAT IS GOING ON!?" So, I'm not a fan of Eclipse. No sir, I don't like it. However, I won't be leaving. I've been on DeviantART since forever -- this isn't even my first account, I started out back in 2001-ish. I'm too old and stubborn to restart on another website now and the thought of moving all my artwork is overwhelming. That said, I hope they fix this... and soon, because right now it's kind of giving me a migraine. I've got a few sketches to post but I'll probably wait 'til the weekend. Life has been tough and I'm not up for dealing with this mess at the moment. Hang in there friends, let's hope they either restore the old layout or fix this one.
Malware Alert
Heads up, friends. There is a virus going around via notes inviting you to join the open beta for a virtual pet site called Solpets. These notes contain a clickable link that will give you malware and pop-ups. I thought it looked highly suspicious and sure wasn't about to click anything, instead I confirmed this by googling Solpets. They are aware this is happening and have a post on their site warning people not to open these links. The notes are titled "Hello, *your username here*!". I have received them twice now from two different accounts -- support849347177 and support2097724294 (this one has since been deleted) so please, be careful.
